Building Products Digest Recognizes Great Southern
ABBEVILLE, AL - Building Products Digest has named Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., as the second largest manufacturer of pressure-treated lumber products in the United States. The listing was published in the magazine's April 2004 issue in which it recognizes the industry's "Top 25 Treaters." This is the third consecutive year Great Southern has received this distinction.
Founded in 1970 in Abbeville, Alabama, Great Southern has grown to include plants in Mobile, Alabama; Muscle Shoals, Alabama; Conyers, Georgia; Statesboro, Georgia; Columbus, Texas; and Sumter County, Florida. Recently, the company announced plans to build a new facility in Jesup, Georgia, that will open in February 2005.
Great Southern is well-known for its popular YellaWood(TM) brand pressure-treated lumber products as well as its N-Durz(TM) brand borate treated products. In addition, the company distributes an array of products including EON, the wood alternative decking system, SolarPly(TM) brand radiant barrier sheathing and MaxxFloor(TM) brand flooring panels. All delivered to customers on the company's own fleet of trucks.
"We're excited to receive this ranking," said Great Southern's CEO Jimmy Rane, "but we're even more excited about our growth plans for the future. By offering our dealers a complete array of products and by helping them manage their inventories more effectively, we play a key role in helping them better serve consumers," he added. Over the years, Great Southern has featured college football and basketball coaches in a series of highly effective advertising campaigns. These marketing efforts have led millions of customers to remember that "for building outdoors, yella's your color."
